Trekking
Dolpo
is the most remote region situated in the Trans Himalayan region of mid
-West Nepal. Trekking to the Dolpo region has only been permitted since
mid-1989. Dolpo is the most remote place It has scattered fascination
villages & is still the land of mystery and peace. Dolpo is a virgin
and divine land. Shey Phoksundo National Park in the core of Dolpo Region
is famous for snow leopard.
The Dolpo
trek is very strenuous. To undertake this trek you need to be in peak
mental and physical fitness as you will pass over 6000 meters ridges.
You will pass through deep dark forests, wide river canyons and gorges
which lead to the spiritual lake of Shey Phoksundo and the towering peak
of Kanjiroba (6612 m.) Tourists rarely visit Dolpo Region and the trekking
route is very narrow and steep at places, so good hiking experience is
essential for this trek. The altitude ranges from 2500m to 5070m. In spite
of tough trails and rugged topography journey to Dolpo area is a life
time experience.
With
the recent opening of Dolpo to a limited number of trekkers, we can now
offer a journey to this remote, majestic region. We can explore the environs
of Ringmo Lake, the monastery and valley made famous by Peter Matthiessen's
memorable book, “The Snow Leopard” and Fascinating villages
and monastery of Saldang, Yangjer, and Tinje during trekking in Dolpo.
In spite of tough trails and rugged topography journey to Dolpo area is
a life time experience.
