The Royal Chitwan National Park, lying south of Kathmandu adjacent to the Indian Border, is the oldest and one of the largest national parks in the world. In 1984 it was listed as world heritage site. Apart from the 43 species of mammals, 500 species of birds, 126 species of fish, 150 species of butterflies and 47 species of reptiles you will encounter the endangered one horned rhino, the royal Bengal tiger, wild elephants, etc.
